Elmer was first debuted for the music video for Letter Home as a more arrogant and lazier version of the final character.
The next time he came to be would be for Jethro on Deathrow, a softer, kinder version. Elmer truly is such a hard boiled egg of all my more
upright, southern christian upbringing that gives me a place to put these qualities in an exaggerated character
who still imbues kindness, silliness, and my own sense of morality and acceptance I don't always get to see in men of his Ilk.
Never saved the date or wore all white for you,
cause you said you liked me better wearin' black and blue
all worn and torn adorned with all your weeds and overgrowth
the tattered vines you left behind you still wrapped around my throat
